Peter Droege grew up in Central City, a historic gold-mining town outside of Denver, where he fell in love with Colorado and its rich history and culture. He and his wife enjoy renovating a historic home that once served as a dynamite bunker serving gold mines in the 1800s. He also enjoys spending time with his four children, distance running and mountain biking.
Peter has a passion for innovative communications and service to the nonprofit community. He is an award-winning newspaper editor, served as Vice President for Communications for the $1.5 billion Daniels Fund, co-founded a Denver Public School charter school for dropouts, and ran a residential program that empowered men who had lost everything to an alcohol and/or drug addiction to reclaim their lives.
He speaks Spanish and co-founded a successful Spanish-language newspaper, has served on numerous fundraising committees, and co-chairs an annual Christmas party for the homeless that serves 3,000 people each year. He received the Estrella (Star) award for service to the Hispanic community in 2014; an organization he led received the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Humanitarian Award in 2016; and the Community Service Award from the Latina SafeHouse in 2017.
